Keeping a close eye on the weather for the next 5-7 days, the status of the course will be day to day. With potential for rain and snow tonight and tomorrow, followed by several nights in the 20s and day time highs staying in the 30s, there’s a very good chance the course will be frozen solid for a few days. My best guess is after today, the course will be closed until Tuesday or Wednesday.
The end of next week looks like we’ll see a warm up. So we’re not going to make the call to pull pins just yet. However, if the forecast beyond 7 days shows another immediate freeze coming, we will use the mild days next week to put the course to bed, including deep-tine and a heavy topdress on greens, effectively closing them for the season.
For now, you should expect the course to be closed tomorrow and judging by the tee sheet I think most have already made that assumption. I will post daily updates to Twitter (@NorfolkGreens) each morning from here on out, which can also be seen on the Superintendent page of the club website.
