The golf course will open at noon on Monday, April 5th for walking and “Blue Flags”, only. The noon opening time will give us a chance to get all course accessories out, cut new cups, clean playing surfaces and possibly make some plant protectant applications – if the wind ever finally dies down.
By the end of today all playing surfaces will have been cut at least once. I’d like to remind everyone that the course is very much still a work in progress. It’s still early in the Spring and conditions are not yet where they’ll be once everything fully wakes up. We’re still cleaning up from the winter, and buttoning up a number of projects.
Tee markers will again be placed at the top of the hills on 4 and 5, as those holes will remain shortened until construction is completed at the clubhouse. The Winter and Spring water table has exposed a need to add additional drainage in the reconstructed, right green side bunker on 6. This will take place on Monday, so consider that bunker out of play until further notice. The newly added left hand bunker however will be open for play.
As always quick updates such as frost delays, can also be found on Twitter (@NorfolkGreens), in the margin of the blog, and the Superintendents View area of the club website.
See you on the course.
